STIMULATE INTEREST
Provide an engaging set of new information. This could be an interesting video, an online simulation, a virtual field trip, a video conference with a guest speaker, or any other resource to entice your students’ thinking.

EXTEND THE EXPERIENCE
You should have some viable options for your students in place should they want to further explore the topic presented in your TYPE I Experience. Think of TYPE II Skills that students might need to learn in order to successfully pursue a line of inquiry and seek satisfaction for their own curiosity. 

​Use this PLANNER to develop your ideas for a SEM:Tech Type I. 

Type II: Methods and Skills

TECHNOLOGY LEARNING COMMUNITY
We will be using an modified unconference model today. The questions you should consider are:
  • What are some TECH problems that you might like to solve?
  • What TECH Skills do you want to develop in you / in your students? 
  • How would you like to use TECH to be productive?

Once you have considered these questions, follow these steps:
Step 1: Identify 1 technology skill you would like to learn from the menu below.
Step 2: Working individually or in small groups complete the task associated with the skill you selected.
Step 3: Need help, ask one of the TLC leaders that stood up.
Import an Image & Avoid Copyright Infringement
  1. Use a SEM:Tech Template to frame examples and non-examples for your students
  2. Click here to add "One of These Things Is Not Like the Other" Template to your Google Drive 
  3. Using an iPad? Try the Google Slides version instead! CLICK HERE
  4. Use Google Images to find images that do not infringe on someone's copyright (See hint below)
  5. Select images that are both obviously and not obviously connected. 
  6. Upload the images to the SEM:Tech Template

Hint:
While in Google Images, click on "Search Tools". A another menu bar will appear. Click on "Usage Rights". You will want to find an image that is labeled for reuse in some form.
Web Search - Truth vs. Bias
  1. Find two news stories or websites that are at least some what plausible but are false.
  2. Locate one news story or website that seems unlikely but is factual. 
  3. Create a Google Document or Slides presentation that contains the three stories. 
  4. Share your one link with the group. 
  5. BONUS POINTS if the three stories are related or focused on one topic.​
Make a Movie Using LEGO Movie Maker
  1. Create a storyboard for your movie (hand drawn sketches are fine). You do not need LEGOs to create a movie - get creative with your personal belongings.
  2. Download the LEGO Movie Maker app through the app store for your tablet or smartphone (the app is free!).
  3. Open the app, click on the red button that says "Make a Movie"
  4. The app takes you through the process step-by-step. Make sure to read the instructions within the app.
  5. Still have questions? Try Googling "how to make a movie with LEGO Movie Maker" and remember to be a critical consumer (don't just click on the first result you see).
  6. Once you are done with your movie, save it!
  7. Share your movie.
Make a Digital Story using Adobe Spark Video
  1. Go to spark.adobe.com and create a FREE account. If you have an iPad, download Adobe Spark Video from the App Store. 
  2. Create a NEW PROJECT by selecting the YELLOW + button. Then choose VIDEO and create a title. 
  3. Pick a story template.
  4. Watch the short tutorial video to get started. 
  5. Each frame has the option to add a photo, icon, or text. You can also record a voice over for each slide. 
  6. Explore the Theme, Music, and Layout options. Find the best match for the mood of your story.  
  7. When you are done, share you masterpiece.
